Time Out Challenge # 47

Happy New Year everybody and welcome to the first Time Out Challenge  for 2016!! We have so many amazing challenge themes for you over the next 12 months, I hope you can play along with us. Our theme for this challenge is:

BIRTHDAYS: with optional twist of 'sponging'

This gives you so many options on what to make for someone's birthday. And there is even an extra incentive for using the 'twist'. Our Sponsor for this challenge is Uniko. They will be giving a gift voucher to the random picked winner from the entries that use the 'twist'. So exciting, grab your sponges everyone!!

Our Guest Designer for this challenge is the fabulous Rema of Paper Panache. I see her gorgeous cards around blogland often and her designs are always so clean and modern. I really recommend taking a spin around her blog!!

Sponging isn't something I do very often on my cards. However I saw a card the other day that was so amazing with the design, I just had to give it a go:

A few months ago I discovered Amy of The Craft Bunny. Her cards are so incredible and she has the most amazing ideas. One of her cards here had a die-cut word that was rainbow water-coloured and inlaid back into the card. I thought is was stunning and wondered if I could still get the same look with my mini-blending tool.

I cut a panel of white CS and used Distress Inks - Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Spiced Marmalade and Cracked Pistachio, adding them in a square-ish pattern so there was a colour in each corner but overlapping where they meet. I die-cut the 'hi' from the coloured panel and also from the card front. A piece of white CS was glued to the inside front of the card (to give the die-cut something to sit on) and glued the 'hi' in place. This way it also keeps it a one-layer design. I stamped the rest of the sentiment in black and added some co-ordinating sequins.

Its not as spectacular as Amy's card but love how the colours pop against the white. Thank you so much Amy for your inspiration!!

The 'hi' die-cut is from Winnie and Walter, as well as the sentiment stamps from the set 'The Big, the Bold and the Happy'. The pink sequin is from Pretty Pink Posh, the blue from Avery Elle and the orange from Neat and Tangled.

I have three challenges I would like to enter this card:
